Does anyone know the power consumption on one of these?
I had one plugged into my Delcor 100 battery last night, along with an 80 litre waeco on its minimum setting.
Seems to have totaly flattened the battery down to 4 volts.
It appears the Waeco cut out at its 10.5 limit but the little cooler kept going
Im not sure if the deep cycle battery is stuffed,I have it plugged into my Ctek charger on "recon"at the moment

Not sure about the Engel, but I had a similar unit and they draw about 4 or 5 amps. They work on a thermo couple (Peltier Device) and are on all the time.

I suspected they had a heavy draw for their size.
For their volume ,it appears they are hardly worth it unless you can keep the engine running.
It did get a can of coke nice and cold last night.

Look on the base, it will tell you Input is 48 Watts (continuous), divide that by 12 (v) and you get 4 amps/hour. Assuming you get about 50 - 60 effective amps out of your battery it will be flat in about 15 hours, add the draw from your 80l Waeco of about 1.5 ampd per hour and you can soon see your are drinking warm beer tomorrow!!
In my view (and many others) Thermos should not be used when the vehicle is not running (charging the battery). Our one is only used for day trips and is plugged into an outlet that goes off when the ignition is turned off.
