welding cracked bellhousing

Hi - the bellhousing on my Disco has cracked near one of the bolts. I'm just wondering if this kind of metal can be welded?

You bet ya. But dont let them take the easy way out by using a mig welder while its on the car. Get the sucker off and grind a deep "v" along the crack and get it tig welded.
After having said that, if yur going to pull it off so to speak then why not see if you can get a second hand one off a written off vehicle.

Samething happend to a mate's Disco and he welded as Howesy did. No problems and still going.Alpaca

Yes as mentioned this can be repaired, you also need to find out why the housing cracked in the first place, unless you know of course.......Keep the shiny side up
