Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me identify the winch bar that's in the attached pic. They are pretty common (I think) on Hiluxs around the place, so hopefully it wont be too difficuilt.

More specifically, I'm trying to find out if it'll fit on my 4Runner (1990, IFS). The Hilux in the pic is a 99 dual cab IFS. Hopefully I can identify the bar then I'll be able to find out if it'll fit!

Cheers,
Jack

Looks very similar to the Genuine Toyota one on my 100 series, not much help to you though.

Cheers

My guess, TJM bar.
I have a TJM bar on my 105 and they are similar design, larger center upright/crossbar, with smaller (almost afterthuoght) side bars.

Jack,

The centre bar being a smaller diameter I would guess that it is a Toyota Bar made by TJM.

Now for the bad news, I am sure that the Hilux bar will not fit the 4 Runner

Yeah it looks a lot like a TJM T15 to me, but doesn't have any signs of any TJM branding so you could be right about it being a TJM/Toyota bar. Can I ask what makes you so sure that it won't fit on the 4runner?

AFAIK, up until about 1996 they were the same(would fit) but changes happened after to stop them fitting.

Thanks guys - I think I've figured it out. As someone mentioned, TJM made some bars for Toyota that were then sold as factory standard gear. This is why the bar looks very similar to some of the earlier TJM bars that are around (as people have pointed out, see attached pic for those who are interested), but it also explains why there's no TJM branding on it.

I am still not sure about the fitting though - the TJM brochures claim that they have one range of accessories (bars, side rails etc) that will fit all hiluxes (and I assume runners) from 1989 through to 2002. I will give my local store a ring in the morning and see what they reckon, but you may well be right - the chassis width could be different post 96. Thanks for the help :-)
