I've been meaning to post this for some time but keep forgetting to(the old brain lacks sometimes!!). About 3 years ago Jodie and myself were swimming at our local beach in Jervis Bay NSW, when Jodie spotted a bottle floating out in the water.
I swam out to collect it and guess what!, a message inside. We couldn't get it out without breaking the bottle when we got home and we ended up sending a letter to the little boy who had originally written the letter. He had put it in the water at Lane Cove in Sydney, so we waited and waited to get a reply but never heard from him. Maybe the message was very old?,gathering by the amount of barnacles on the bottle, it had been in the water for some time. His name was Felix. Anyone else found a "Message in a bottle" over the years?

I have had one found,

Was found in the Whitsundays in 1984 and was tossed off the Fairstar during a family cruise in 1983.

The one from a cruise in 1986 is still out there somewhere LOL

Cheers Kev

Uncle

I found one caught in rocks while fishing with three school friends at Bradleys Head in Sydney harbour in 1959. It had been dropped into the ocean off Guam Island by a British merchant seaman named John B Smith. To this day I can still remember his address. It was 7 Buckerell Ave Exeter Devon England. Does any one know him?

We took the note to a Sydney newspaper and they published our photo and a story.

I wrote to him and got a reply which resulted in another story in the paper. He said he threw it overboard three months earlier and was surprised it stayed afloat long enough to drift that far. He didn't think he had sealed the bottle well enough.
