Anyone after one of those small plastic washing machines, have a look at Deals Direct. com. They just dropped their price from $59.95 too $39.95 for the 2kg one, and the 3.8 kg from $99.95 to $59.95. May be for today only. No connection other than a satisfied regular customer.

Just a note to those interested - these are single cylinder so there is no spin. I am happy hand washing in buckets with a plunger, but find the wringing hard, so if i ever got one, i would get the 'twin tub' model with a spinner, although an old fashioned hand wringer would probably be the best way to go.

Small washing machines were discussed on the caravaners forum recently, including the Deals Direct model and the similar twin tub. They are also sold on eBay.

No connection with any vendors, and i have chosen to have no washing machine when caravanning.

I am a satisfied regular customer also , but in reality they have not "dropped" the price as I bought the 3.8kg machine about 2mths ago for the lower price..and despite the fact that it has no spin cycle , it is very lightweight and works very well...ideal machine to take away on the next camping trip...no more trips into the nearest laundromat...cheers

Whats wrong with a 20l drum in the back of the ute. Wash while you drive.

Hi Damien

I use the 20 litre buckets - one for wash and one for rinse (change over at lunchtime). They get too smooth a ride in the Bushtracker, so last trip i purchased a plumbing plunger to assist the washing - really very easy. I just need a spinner or wringer, so was a bit interested in the models with spinner, but i still won't purchase one.

With the 20l drum, you need plenty of corrugations to get a good wash cycle. Hadn't thought about the plunger to assist :)

I have been told but do not have experience of the fact that some caravan parks forbid the use of private washing machines on their sites
