If someone could direct me to a relevant post- or help me with this one.
I have loaded Ozi Ezplorer and my map collection onto my new lappy.
When I do a name search- the indicted location is miles (or should I say kilometres) out. When I 'mouse' onto a place with a known lat/long- the indication in the top/left is also not reading correct.
In Configuration>System I have set WGS84
In the 'Map Window'I have selected WGS84
Obviously it is a datum/setup problem??
Over to the gurus !!
Cheers

The loaded map may not be WGS84
In the map window set it to "Datum of loaded map"

It certainly sounds like a map datum or projection problem.
Where did you get the maps and how did you create the .MAP files. If you are using scanned maps you have calibrated yourself that is probably the source of the problem.

Ozi reads the info it needs from the .MAP file and if that is incorrect you get the problem you have described. The selection in the "Map" window or at the top of the screen causes Ozi to reproject the map to the selected datum, but if the .MAP file is wrong this will not help as all ozi does is show position using the map to the selected datum/projection.

Not sure that this is a datum issue. Usually the datum error in Australia is around 200 metres because of the difference between new and old datums.

It sounds more like an error in your calibration fie.. If you are using the Natmaps, it is also possible you are using the old .map files.

Ver 3 works fine. There is a special program foe installing the map files. Let me know if you want it. It is a 1.5MB file.

It works differently to your other maps. You can copy the imae files into your Oziexplorer directory. Most likely you will find the images for UBD installed undet Program Files\UBD or similar.

Warfer,
Go the Oziexplorer website; Australian Page; and it will give full instructions about making it work. Like Zebra says, you need to do a small download to get some working map files.

Something else to try.

Turn on grid lines and see if they line up with the grid on the map - always a good check on calibration

Hello
Hard to diagnose problem without being there and in absence of a tad more detail. Best bet is to name the specific map you are using and an example of a location you are noting as incorrect (i.e. correct co-ords and co-ords you are observing). What name search file are you using and where did you get it?

Cheers

Hi
There are some name search files here

Namesearch Files

In relation to your initial problem, see how you go. Maybe, as previously suggesed, name the actual map you are using and also coords of specific location (wrong and right coords you are comparing)

Cheers
Greg
