Hi, can anyone recommed a good insurer for a camper trailer? We have a few quotes, but no one seems really to understand that it is NOT a caravan. Any suggestions?
Thanks

We use APIA but you've got to be over 50. Good rates.

I have just used the RACQ insurance.. while they do understand that it is not a caravan their computer doesn't have a button for a camper so it shows as a caravan.

The rates were ok I guess but that is probably only because I have a few policies bundled together..

The only thing I don't like and I suppose it is the same for all is that when the tent is up there is no insurance for theft as they say the goods cannot be sucured.

We had insurance with NRMA for our camper. What I thought was a reasonable price and covered every thing even the fridge. Although cant comment on wether they are ok if needing to make a claim as we never had to. They would cover the fridge in the camper but wouldnt cover it in the vehicle ?? Couldnt work that one out as it would be safer in a locked vehicle then sitting in a canvass style tent/trailer ?? So with the advice from some one on here I have taken out seperate insurance for it via the house contents also with NRMA........... WHG

I recently ensured my camper trailer with the NRMA. Rates were ok, again I have a few policies bundled together, but they also covered the trailer contents.

When we had our camper we were insured with AAMI. He wrote it off up near the Lorella Springs turn off . Sent a photo in and we recieved a new camper no questions.

H & J,

I am insured with RACV, c/t, contents and annexe for $320, i have no idea how that stacks up with you, total price is $20K, plus they were the only ones who would cover my solar panels, worth $2000.

cheers,

Lance

we have our camper with GIO. they were the only ones we found that covered items inside the camper, even though it cant be locked.
they were also very reasonable as they have a dedicated caravan/camper policy.

Bryan

Hi,
Try CIL 1800 112 481 they are specialist in the Caravan industry and have good rates generally.
My personal CT is with them and many of my customers use them.

Cheers
Paul.
