No 1,
Yes an N70ZZ will fit in the existing battery trays.

In my LC100TD I have a Bosch cranker in the LHS and an AGM DC on the RHS. The cranker does the obvious starting duties and runs the winch. The deep cycle runs the fridge etc. It is separated by a smart switch and has run without problem for a couple of years. The isolating is very easy due to the way Toyota have made the loom.

Being at the front of the vehicle they run much cooler than where the second battery is near the firewall as in my troopy. This is good especially for the AGM DC.

mmm no they dont
pulled the one out of camper and battery holder needs some adjustment...now i need to get the angle grinder out , then the welder, then see if it doesnt fit, then back to drawing board, and so the cycle continues...lol

but one thing I have noticed is that a longer battery carrier can be accomodated

does any one know if they are available and what is biggest battery that one can get into it..that space?

I had no problem with mine. Both N70zz btteries fitted in without alteration. I think your battery out of the CT must not be a standard size.

Photos of mine to prove the point.

MN1,
The casings of batteries are very strong, so there is no problem with having a battery overhang by a couple of inches. You will find that some Toyotas came from the factory like this - 90series TD Prados for example.

N70 is a 12 inch long battery. Next size up is a 13inch battery (344mm long) and they will certainly fit on the drivers side of your 100series TD.

Most people I know isolate the dual batteries, leaving the passengers side battery as the cranker. It is an easy job :-)))

Hehe.........The tray is there for "cosmetic" reasons only and to collect any battery spills. Your new battery can overhang without a problem. The 90series Prados even had the plastic tray overhanging!!

Have a look at what I did on the Lcool forum.

The bigger batteries N70ZZ fit, just, into the standard holders.

but how high are the batteries you have
the one I took out of the camper is higher than the existing (220mm old at 200mm) and the existing clamp (the one that goes across the top) wont fit

I will check in the morning but found these sizes on internet, 306 long x 173 wide X 225 high for the Delkor Puma 27HR 710CCA I use as a starter.

The above is true, just checked with a tape, the battery case is 200mm high the terminals take it to 225, the clamps fit well as you can see in the pic.
