Just looked at the registration renewal for the LC (Qld). There is a charge listed as Traffic Improvement Fee = $44.45

I'm here to tell you that this is a rip off as the traffic has not improved one bit and the roads are getting worse - not better. I suppose they have to pay for the tunnels in Brisbane somehow!

You're lucky you got it now. Rego goes up 20% in July :-((

But have to agree about the "Traffic Improvement Fee"..

Qld rego increasing by 20% in july, are you serious? Not happy! After moving recently from the west coast it's crap how qld rego is so dear compared to WA. Not to mention all the tolls we have here and the traffic is shocking.
Even though Perth is a whole world away to everyone living on the east coast, it certainly has it's good points. No tollways and cheap rego. Everyone says people in perth can't drive, but thats the same everywhere. Try the ipswich motorway any day of the week and you'll see some of the finest drivers to ever get behing the wheel!

anyway...rant over!

Cheers,
Dan

Know what you mean about the costs of rego. We just received the renewal for our 200 and it comes in at $1004.20. Included in the rego is 'road safety contribution' of $2 and $16 for road rescue fee (which covers ambulance). Nothing for traffic improvement fee but we could definitely do with some improvement in the ACT.

Hi John & Julie

Nothing to do with the original post but just noticed the quote from Richard Bach - from his book Illusions. That makes at least 3 persons who love his work.

Cheers

Why do you think QLD motorists apparently had cheaper fuel (cheaper than other States) for so many years? Answer: the cost was subsidised by higher rego fees. Gee those Queenslanders must be any easy touch (at least by the Govt).

What with Good Looks, Charm and Personality you expect us to be the Smart State as well.

Capt Bligh has made Kevin 07 look like scrooge when it comes to ways to spend money.

To previous posting if I was given two votes Anna would get neither. Would not even wish her onto NSW in a State of Origin.

"The Smart State"

You are joking arent you.

After living in Queensland for 6 years my opinion of the politicians is that they arent even smart enough to realise how stupid they actually are.

I'll warrant we see a lot more vans with SA or Vic plates on them now instead of Qld.

Regarding rego. I saw in today's news that NSW has introduced a six month rego scheme. No details as such, but as I only use my van during the cooler months I'm going to have a look at it.

It means that I'll have to still get a pink slip (mechanical check), but there may be a saving. I don't know if you'll have to hand the number plates in when the rego expires, & then but a new set ($35) when you renew.

N.S.W. be the "Rip Off State" I'll bet there will be a catch.
