Hi all
Many thanks to those who gave their help.
after trying various arials etc and new coax,
we got a new alpine radio (and ditched the GME one) and the reception is FANTASTIC with just a small rubber duck arial which is much more convienient than some of the big long metal ones i tried to get better reception from.
