hi
sorry to bother you again with a tyre question.
i am currently have 31*10.5*15 want to change to 235*85*16.
can you tell me if i am travelling example 100k's at 2400 rpm with the 31's what will happen with the 235's will rpms go up or down and what will the speedo be reading faster or slower will it effect fuel consumption. i know it is a simple equation but for the life of me can't seem to get my head around it. these tyres are on a gq patrol.
thanks in advance.
have a nice day

Hi Al,
This may help you.
Cooper 4WD Tyres Size Guide
I can't find it atm, but I use to have a great link to a web site that you could put all the different setups into.
Eg, Tyre Dia, Diff ratio, Final gear ratio and it would give the correct speed. at a 'X' rpm. vise versa, It was execellent for what your trying to find out.
I can't find it, Dam.
Similar to this.
RPM and Gear Speed Calculator
If I find it I'll post back,
Hope this helps AL.

Hi Al
Thats a good size tyre for a Gq , when you go to 235/85 your revs at 100km road speed will drop from 2400 to about 2300
or if you like at 2400rpm your road speed will indicate about 97 instead of 100.
You mileage will not change a lot , it should improve slightly but only if you increase you tyre pressures accordingly i.e. from 29 or so to 36psi , for the narrower section tyres.
Note - I have not calculated out the exact figures above , the figures given are a guide as I don't have data with me at this location, but someone else may.
