hi guys

l am travelling to Harrietville for a week in an 80 series td cruiser at Easter with the missus and kids and have been looking on exploroz site for 4x4 treks in the area l am relativly new to 4x4ing and don't want something to extreme with the family.

could anyone that knows the area suggest any treks and or drives that can be done comfortably in a days trip or less.

are there any huts or any other points of interest in the area that can they be reached with reasonable ease.

thanks and kind regards

andy.

Gaday Andy. A nice drive out of Harrietville would be up the Hotham road to Mt St Barnard. Turn right on the Twins Jeep track & accross to Mt Murray for some excellent views. Down the Mt Murray Track to Beverages Station for Lunch on the Buckland river. Continue along the valley then turn right up Clear creek track, dropping into the Wandilagong Valley at Blue Hole. Back up Mongrel spur to the Four ways then down again to Harrietville via Cemetary Lane.
There are no particually difficult tracks on this route & is suitable for a standard 80 series with AT tyres even in the wet.
There are no huts in the immediate area that I can recall mostly being lost to fires.
A shorter option would be to head up along the Demon ridge spur into Bright then take a loop back via Wet Gully ridge track. (Slightly more challenging)
Take a chainsaw or at least an axe & drag chain as after wind there can be a bit of timber down on the tracks.
Rooftop maps have the best coverage of the area.
Might see you up that way as I will be leading a day trip in that area for a big group of NSW clubs coming down to assist local farmers who lost fencing in the fires.
Cheers Craig.............

There is way too much to list here, rooftop maps do some fanastic maps of that area and list a ton of info on the maps of things to see & do as well as track conditions and grades.
I suggest that you go to the shop page here and order them from this site.
