I am intending to go up
Cape York late April 04. Could people with previous experience for this time of year send me a line as per road condiotions and anything else that might be handy.
Thanks heaps
Geoff

We went to the Cape last year, and crossed the
Mitchell River at Dunbar on 01 May, some locals were surprised as that's normally a bit early. A few days later all the creeks on the Tele Track were OK (
water up to the windscreen on the Troopy always makes good videos)* Still that was then and 2004 is next year, so you'll need to keep a check on how wet the wet is this time, I get the feeling that this year we might get some decent rains so things mightn't be quite so easy!
Best burgers are at Musgrave, Archer River ones are quite good too, don't
camp in
Coen at the alleged caravan
park, go just north of town by the river, the bypass road is somewhat corrugated (!) watch out for drunken lunatics driving on the wrong side of the road.
Have fun,
Cheers

camp in the caravan
park at
coen?...
we stayed in the caravan
park and it was fine..... plenty of locals around but minded they're own business........ plenty of dogs though i noticed..._____________________________________________

I was up there at
Easter this year and there was not to many
places you could'nt go. But that was due to the poor wet season. On a normal year you would be flat out getting to
Weipa before mid May.
April is by far the best time for fishing either by boat or from the banks.
