Hi All. Just back from the caravan& camping show. Got a Sat TV
kit all ready to go $499, so now we can get some news and
maybe watch a bit of footy when out looking for Yellow stuff.
You could get a Honda 2ei for $1599 and the salesman said
twist me arm and get a extended warranty. Thats the best I have seen them. Also got a CTEK Batterey charger.
Cheers Brian

H Brian,

Congrats on your purchases.

You could easily spend your life savings there. I went yesterday - came out with a swag. Was also looking for a hand winch, only saw one - A Black Rat?? The sales guys were a bit ignorant so I came away empty handed.

Cheers
Alan

Alan, save your money and get a tirfor, we've had two brand new Black Rat winches that wouldn't hold the cable when under load and slipped during use. Both supplied by the distributor.
Needless to say we returned them.
Also heard that the comp fella's steer clear of Black Rat gear for similar reasons.

Hi All

I went yesterday. Very big. Came home buggered.

Came home with a new sink/stove combo for the coaster. Windscreen repair stuff, tent pegs, levelers for the coaster and a small portable step for the coaster.

Could have come home with a gennie $1599, Turbo Oven $299 and a sat tv set up $349 oh and a set of spanner thingys $250.

Oh well it was fun anyway lol

Jeez - what a time to not need the Honda - that sounds like the best price I've ever heard for that unit.

We went too. Got a awning from ARB for the landcruiser for $335 show special. Pick it up from Midland when they come in stock. Could of spent $80,000 on some smick caravans if we had $80,000 heheheheh. Great time had by hubby and I. I love dreaming of all the one day stuff. You know - one day we can but this, one day we can buy that. D

Good luck with your sat TV. I bought one at the same show 2 years ago. Mucked around with it as I headed up the coast...thought it was a lot of fiddling and tuning for just a TV signal...stowed it away and carried it for 2 years without bothering with it...lol.
So I guess I have a very expensive ultrasized wok, a tripod that's been good for nothing and a set top box I don't need.
Really we didn't think it thru. TV wasn't that important to us...we preferred reading, our laptops and sitting around a campfire.
p.s..I'd be open to offers on it!
Cheers

Yes those sat tv thingies are quite expensive especially when there is only crap being transmitted. We only watch ABC or SBS as most of the time the commercial stations broadcast cheap soapies or not so funny American crap

Gerard.
You could be right, We don't move around, set up camp and stay
in the one spot so hopefully it will work out ok. I think it would be a lot of fiddling if moving each day.

Hi Brian, we went there too, turned in where it said 'parking' and all we could see was a sea of vehicles all around the grounds, I wasn't feeling too good (coming down with the flu I think) and hubby was tired, we looked at the crowd that was their, I asked the question "Do we really want to go down in that"? we decided to find the nearest exit and get out of there, we planned to go tomorrow but son has other ideas, needs help with the front yard so looks like we will be missing it this year. Ah well I guess we saved some money.

Cheers

Hi Brian

Congrats on your purchase. What brand?

Make sure you test out setting it up a few times before going bush.Mine has a "tuning" meter which I attach to the dish to get the highest signal.

Mine was supplied by VanSat in Mackay. Full set of instructions (plastic coated). One traveller saw me setting up in Dubbo (IIRC) and asked to photocopy the instructions because his cheapie never had any. I politely ignored the question.

I'm very happy with mine - upgraded last year to STB to run on 12V. Now have TV/DVD/Satellite all running on 12V.
