Hi all,

Can someone tell me if i should be able to see coolant in the top of the radiator, overflow bottle level is full but no sign of coolant in the radiator. The temp runs normal.

Regards Scott

Scott,
your radiator should be full to the top or close to it, if it isn't there is a problem.

You definitely have a problem. Possibly as simple as a replacement radiator cap but it needs to be checked by a radiator specialist so they can pressure test the whole system and look for leaks.

had this problem recently with a work vehicle. the low water alarm kept tripping een though coolant bottle full. Was also boiling a bit.

all i did was grab th overflow tube and blow into it. I could easily blow into it wereas the cap should seal it. Easy fix new cap.

unfortunatly a fullovrflow bottle and low radiator can also be a symptom of a cracked head.

Getting a pressure test is of limited value Ive never had one pick up a cracked head even though it was

did pressure test this morning, no leaks. overflow bottle stays on the same level and the cap seal is OK. looks like either a water pump leak or a cracked head. There was coolant on floor towards the back of the motor, no sign of where it was coming from but from what i have been told a cracked head normal shows no sign of coolant so hopefully its the pump.

Cheers Scott
