Gidday all, I have had 2 windows made for the rear of the troopy that lift up rather than slide so that the whole window space can be used. When they were fitted gas struts were not fitted as requested, i have bought struts and would rather not drill the frame work in case I damage the glass. The question is can the metal base of the strut be effectivley glued to the glass? On the wifes Navara the ARB canopy has a long plate glued (a thick black substance) to strengthen the glass and secure the strut. Any idea as to what they use?.
Any help or information appreciated.

Auto shops used to stock a special superglue for rear view mirrors to be glued onto front windscreens. I've not used it though.

Bought some from Autobahn a yr or 2 ago, only problem with it is if you put the mirror in the wrong place you are stuffed, so it should work
well for the struts as its damn hard to break the bond.

Have a look at the Sikaflex product and uses listings.
Some of their products are sealants but others are extremely effective adhesives.
Sikaflex make the stuff they use to stick the shyte to the blanket and we all know how
well that sticks.
Well worth investigating.
