Hi everyone,
I have a newbie question for the esteemed members of this
forum.
Almost a month ago I put an order for a new LC 70 series. To be more specific, a LC 76, GXL wagon. I am aware that the car is no even built yet (at least the web-thingo' says that it's not).
My question is: does anyone know what I could expect out of Toyota these days? I mean, I know they're not doing pretty flash these days, and that they've got quite a few days of stop-work at their plants in Japan (and not only there, to be honest). I also know that they do build these cars in batches ... so there's a number of variables to account for.
They haven't given me an estimation at the dealership, no more than a vague "3 to 9 months" which is really worse than saying nothing at all. I've read some posts around the watering holes, some saying that their cars came in quick, others saying that it took 10 months to get to them. None of them the same as my model.
Cheers and thanks,
Ino!~

I have a mate who's just signed on the bottom line for one of the wagons and been given a delivery date three months hence.
Cheers Mick

Our dealer told us our 76 would take 8 weeks finished up being 6 months but it was
well worth the wait. We now have 43000ks on it and still think it is great.

Think positively, if the wait is long enough you might get one of the new models due at the end of the year :)

Thanks guys,
That's really good to know.
As to getting a 2010 model, that's probably just a nice dream which is never going to happen. If for nothing else, one would assume that the new model would be more expensive than the old one. I'd say that airbags on this model would mean roughly another approximately $2000 on the RRP :) Would be nice to win, once in a while, but the realist in me tells me that I should keep it real :)
Thanks,
Ino!~

I picked up my new 76 Series GXL Wagon late last year. When I ordered it I was told 4-6 months wait but the salesman rang back 10 min later and said there was one in the Toyota yard that was a cancelled order as the company had got sick of waiting for it. I took delivery one week later so had a win there. I am just about to do the 10,000 K service and am more than happy with it, oil burn has stopped and the fuel consumption is average 10.5 general driving, 14.7 towing 20` Van weight about 3 Ton. The only complaint would be the 90 L fuel tank, I have had 170 L fitted and now have over a 1,000 K range. Just love it.

That's outstanding fuel consumption Foxhound.
About 3 to 4 litres per, better than my TDV8 Trayback. I wonder if the turbulence behind the cabin is the cause?

The 3" made a good difference with acceleration and holding in gear longer. Not as noisy as i thought it would be, just a nice v8 rumble.
The
snorkel i put on made a huge difference compared to the crap genuine one.
I went
snorkel, the later the exhaust and just recently the diesel power chip. the combination of the 3 has made massive difference in the vehcile.
Just made a little centre consol with cup holders, who heard of no bloody cup holders..
cheers

Everyone, thanks again for your answers.
It seems to me that the entire thing is more or less a hit-or-miss deal. If it happens they have one around - they'll probably ship it to you. If they have to manufacture it -
well - all bets are off.
Oh
well. So be it then. :)
Thanks again,
Ino!~

E pur si muove!
Allright - just a little update. Today I noticed that on the Toyota web-tracker thingy-mahjig, the "Planned production month" has changed from "Still to be confirmed" to "May 2009".
Here's to hoping that stays that way. :)
