I have picked up a new aerial for muy UHF, and note that it has 27 Mhz on the packet. Can I use this aerial effectively? Thanks

BW,
27Mhz is for AM CBs only, UHF CBs use 476 /477Mhz. In short, no it will not work effectively & could damage your radio !

Yes I agree with the first reply. The two radios are completely different frequecies. 27meg is in the HF range and the other is
miles away in the UHF range. 27meg radio waves are 11 metres in size and the most common aerials are one quarter of that either as a straight piece if stainless steel a bit over 2 metres long or the same length in copper wound around a fibreglass stick. The equivalent aerial for UHF is much much shorter. Back to the seller tomorrow I suggest!

UHF CB waves are around 70cm long - much shorter than the 11000cm of 27 MHz CB - and yes using a not tuned antenna will most likely fry your radio...
