The Pacific highway should be free of any flooding , provided their is no more heavy rain.

But a bigger worry on the pacific highway is the cowboys in their B- Doubles. I had two near misses last week just north of Ballina. A b-double passed me on a passing lane and pulled back to the left lane almost running me off the road. He had no need to do it as their was no one trying to pass him.

The other was just plain reckless.

I know the truckies are trying to make a living, but they don`t own the road.

Go the New England , it`s much quieter.

Thanks Robert, I did have a look at those articles, but it doesn't indicate future forecasting.....just the current situation. Cheers

Google "BOM".

Then go to the weather forecasts for the areas that interest you.

The road will be clear of any floodwater, but due to the intensity of heavy vehicle use during and after, the road edges particularly could be very broken and dangerous.
You could travel the New England highway, (no or little rain right through) Warwick over Cunninghams Gap to Nerang and you are there right behind Southport.

What are your chances, lets see now....I thought this was a forum not a fortune teller service. We'll just give the crystal ball a quick rub.

How on earth could anyone on this site possibly have any idea what will happen between now and the time you travel through North NSW.

I bet no one living there suspected they would be inundated by flood waters this time last week.

If it were me, I'd be looking at going inland, by pass the possible flood areas and head back to the Coast via Warwick and Beaudesert.

The best thing to do is hit those RACV, NRMA websites that give road condition reports. I thnk there is one on this site. Bit of self help...

Yes, there are some silly questions.

I Didn't think it was a stupid question, rather the opposite, going with 2 kids, hubby and van in tow without checking was a receipe for disaster! Knowing how popular this site was, I thought someone would have gone through or been nearby to give some feedback on the situation. Jazzah

You don't need a crystal ball.....just read this mornings paper !!!

Maybe the biggest floods in 10yrs has just gone thru in the last 24hrs........does that answer your question ??

I live 26km north of Coffs and no interuption to normal daily travel. Went to the shops this am 12km north of coffs and all is fine. Single file at Blackadder Ck.- 36km north of Coffs. Section is about 250 mts. .450 deep. Many trucks and cars heading north. Most of the water of the last three days drains fast (near the ocean) and most of the flooding is in suburban Coffs and is always problematic.
I dont know whats happening south of Coffs. But most flooding occurs on high tides and on shore wind / waves. If no more torrential rain happens the Pacific highway traveller won't notice. We need trucks to supply the supermarkets and they are passing through in the hundreds.
Living is a journey,it depends on where you go !

Just before going into Coffs, turn left, go towards Nana Glen, follow the inland road, runs parrell to Pacific Hwy, goes to Grafton,

Go through Grafton towards Red Hill, now follow Summerland Way, arrive at Casino, tirn right to Lismore to Ballina.

No B-doubles, not many semi's either, just one shop at Whipporie, between grafton an Casino, petrol, diesel, take-away, post office, picnic grounds, toilets
