I have this weird fault with my Landcruiser 100 series speedo ... sometimes it works and sometimes not. When I turn on the ignition and drive away it mostly works fine, but other times it doesn't. Never packs up while actually driving the car. Toyota says the system resets itself everytime the ignition is switched off. FOUR Toyotal dealers have now tried unsuccessfully to trace the problem, with one of them replacing the transducer. Anyone had the same problem with their speedo, and if so how was it cured?

This probably isn't the cause but easy to
check.
Alot of cruisers have dash light/instrument problems when there is a faulty connection where the plastic plug enters the back of the alternator.(due to mud/water etc.)
As I said above, not likely but a possibility.
Pull out the connector, clean everything and replace firmly.

I saw a post on this earlier and it had to do with earthing of the instument cluster and a module in it.
If I remember the cheapest way out was a visit to a wrecker.
Try posting on the LCOOL
forum they usually know the tricky answers
