Good morning all,
I am after a bit of info from people that have used King springs in there cruisers as to what spring set ups they used, i have fitted to my vehicle the following,
Winch bar and 9500Lb winch
Dual Batteries
Rear roller _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx
Roof rack
Under bonnet air compressor
Spotties
Estimate a rear constant load of roughly 200Kg with all the crap in the _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx.
I am up in there air as to what spring set up would be best suited, i am after a 50mm lift all round with the vehicle sitting level with the above constant load (Am willing to put up with a bit of sag when loaded up, may even fit polly airs) Don't want to be bouncing all around town when empty
I have emailed King Springs and am awaiting a reply, thought it best to pick everyone elses brains also, Does anyone have any experiance with a similar set up vehicle..??
Cheers lads,
Josh

Josh,
Give
John at Better springs in St marys NSW a call. He makes the Kings springs.
He will ask you a few questions and will design a spring to suit you or recommend a general set that will suit.
I have purchased around 15 sets of leaf and coils from him in the last 20 odd years.
He can supply the whole kit ie springs, shocks, bushes, u bolts etc if required.

Hi Wayne,
They must have other manufacturers around as
well but I have stood there as they made my springs and on other sets they were still warm and the paint was wet when I loaded them into the car.
I wonder if
John Agostino sold out. You would probably know him Wayne, or had dealings with him in the
shop when you had it.
I haven't bought anything from them since we moved to Qld from the Blue Mtns 18mths ago.
Cheers
Dave

Josh,
I have a King Spring/Koni Shockers set up and am very happy with it. My load is similar to yours, though I have 12,000lb winch (heavier), winch bar, side bars and side steps. I also have roller _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx in the back with some load.
I arranged
mine through "Toperformance Suspension" in Bayswater,
Melbourne, who are the distributors for Koni and I think Kings as
well.
I find them firmer than standard, but I like the ride as it's not harsh and has about the right height all round.
The shockers I fitted were Koni 90 Series "Raid", which are their top of the line shocker and are huge, with large oil capacity, which helps prevent the shocker heating up on the corrugated roads. Also very happy with them.
The whole system cost a little more than the standard ARB/OME setup, but I am very happy with it.
Give them a ring, even for their advice.
Cheers,
Mark

G'Day mate... I have an 80 series with King Springs so almost the same car... I too have the winch and spots with twin batts and have a timber drawer system and fridge in the back 24/7 with no rear wheel carrier or anything like that.
I have got standard King springs (raised but standard duty) in the front and have heavy duty springs in the rear.. I spoke to King when I was putting the new springs in and was advised to put in progressive rate springs.... I found that this was NOT suitable as the rear sagged too much and felt wishy washy on the road.. After putting in the heavy duty rears I do find that some times it can be a "little" bumpy at times but the sway and roll is greatly reduced.
I also have the poly airs but to be honest I have not had to use them since putting in the h/d springs.

Hey Josh
If you live in
Darwin, go and see Loclie at L/S spring works, He does all the tour vehicles, he is the best in the business in
Darwin.
He will tell you the best way to set up what you want, we actually lowered my 80 series, it had a big lift through
suspension and it drove like a pig, he is a no nonsense sort of bloke.
Tell him I sent you.
Cheers Steve.

Lads,
Thanks for everyone's suggestions, Steve i got onto Lachlan from L&S suspenion as they were the King springs and Koni dealer and decided to go ahead with the following
Front: KTFR-69 50mm lift
Rear: KTRS-70HD 50mm lift
And decided on the Koni Long Track Shockies
Front: 82-2385
Rear: 82-2386
He also recommended the RAW steering damper
Steve, i would have mentioned that you had sent me but had already spoke with him, Am going to fit them my self and have him fit the castor correction bushes if required as
well as a wheel allignment.
Anyway, thanks for everyone sugestions, have a great weekend...10 more days and im out the
Roper River fishing for a week or so....Oh

Regards
Josh

I doubt you will need the castor bushes at 50mm.. That is a standard lift height and you will probably find that it is all fine.
Best of luck with it.. I am sure you will find it drives like a different beast with that set up.
