Hi all, I have a 8x5 tandem trailer with elec. brakes and i am wanting to extend it 4 feet. Doing the job is no problem, I will add 2 feet to each end. the problem is i don't want to change the draw bar, so it is going to be 2 foot shorter. Do you think this would be a problem?

Yes it will. Draw it out to scale and see what happens

I have done better, i added a 2 foot box to the front to see what would happen. No problems turning or doing anything else.

I am pretty sure there is a ratio regarding how much in front of the axle and how much after , by adding 2feet to each end you would throw the balance of the trailer out . Prob illegal .

Would it follow from that theory, that the trailer was illegal to start? Or is the length of drawbar prorata as
well?
Cheers,
Wayne.

thanks for replies, Tony B, the links did not give a size or formula for the draw bar unless i mist something. So cant see a problem.
