Blue Rag Range Track

Has anyone driven the Blue Rag Range track off the Dargo High Plains road recently? Planning to drive it over Easter, weather permitting. Have read/heard various reports. Is this track any more difficult than say Butcher Country track? Any advice would be appreciated.

Did it twice in January. First time went all the way down to the river. Some steep short rocky sections before summit. Plan your line and it's OK. Down to the river the track closes in with regrowth vegetation, but not very scratchy.

Thanks; would like to make it down to the river if I can; was hoping that wouldn't mean sctatching the car "too" much. It's still a bit new!

Twinkles, is there a decent camp site for a couple of vehicles down on the river? I haven't gone all the way down there.

There is a small flat spot there, not huge but would be ok for a couple of tents.

If you cross the river at the bottom there is a small area to camp. There is also a small area before the crossing too.

Watch out for some large logs close to the track hidden in the regrowth ...

Patrick,

There was a bush fire near the Blue Rag Range track early this year.
The track from the Dargo High Plains Rd to Blue Rag from what I could see has be graded. This might have been to allow fire fighting vehicles to gain access. The track look fresh and very soft.

I would also imagine that any fallen trees would have been removed, but that does not mean that there will not be new ones across the track.

The track up to the trig point is narrow with a few rock faces to climb. Watch for on coming traffic. The last climb can be challenging. Very steep and loose. I will also be in that area around Easter.

Blue Rag track just before the Trig Point clearing.
This photo was taken 12 months ago but the this part of the track has not change that much since then.
