Hi all
I will be using this Next G Wireless product in a caravan for permanent travel throughout Australia running 2 laptops. My question is relating to power installation. Rear panel states 12voltsDC, 1.5 amps. Can I hard wire this modem directly to my 12voltdc battery that is in my caravan rather than using an inverter and then the transformer as supplied? My batteries are 4x120amp hour AGM batteries maintained in a charged state by 4 x 120amp solar panels.

Cheers Jack

I'm not sure what the input of the Next G product is but I'm guessing it's transformer has a 12v DC output, If thats the case.
Yes you could run your Next g off your Battery, but you should use a 12 Volt regulator to stop low/high voltages whilst charging will Solar/charger. Don't forget the fuse on the battery end of you wiring.

I use a regulated 12 volt DC adapter to run the Next G modem. This is the product from Dick Smiths Electronics ==> Car Power DC Adaptor 1.5-12VDC 1.5A

This product allows me to transport the modem to other campers/vehicles etc when needed.

i should say that the 12v setting is not regulated under a certain voltage (16v i think) and it still seems to work.

Thanks all
The output of the ac adapter is 12volt DC 1.5 amp so I will get the adapter from DS
