Looking for a second hand 100 series Totota Landcruiser.
I don't know what exact model to look for 'on-line'.
I want live front axle, with
barn rear doors but also with GXL trim.
Seems to be mixture of a 'standard' & GXL.
What would it actually be called.
Thanks.

Hi,
As stated above you are really looking for something that Toyota never imported into Australia. (If they ever made it!)
The closest 100 Series I can think of is the 105 Series RV's but I seem to remember they lack the
barn doors.
I went through this exercise some 3 years ago and there was then only one Landcruiser that had a live front axle,
barn doors, heavy duty gearbox, factory turbo diesel, decent trim and seats and that was the 5 seater RV Troop Carrier.
Now days there is two, neither of which is a 100 series.
Look at the 76 Series Wagon as
well as the 78 Series RV Troopie, there'll be absolutely no secondhand 76 Series for a 100 series price.

You have brought up the age old problem with Landcruisers. There simply isn't the ideal (later) model Cruiser available. I would also love a Cruiser with a Live front end, factory turbo, stronger gearbox and a stronger front diff. The older 80 series factory turbo from 1995-1997 is really the ideal truck, but trying to get one for a realistic price with low(ish) k's is impossible.
I have settled on keeping the HZJ105 Poverty pack, but when the kids are old enough to climb in the back, I might just get a Troopy with the factory turbo engine and solid front end. I reckon the 76 series is still a little small in the back compared to the Troopy or Wagon. Would just love a troopy with factory turbo and an extra door to allow access to the back without the kids having to climb over the front
seat passengers.
Why bother with the 76, when they could just have put a couple of extra doors on the Troopy? Seems a little silly to me.
Cheers and good luck with the decision making.
Cheers,
Mark
