G'day all'

Rear Kaymar light is not working, bought a new globe stuck it in.... still not working, checked wires with multimeter & its supplying 13.09 volts. Attatch the earth and + and voltage drops to 0 as soon as it makes contact????
Can anyone suggest what the prob could be, for we are heading early hours tomorrow morning.

Cheers

Suggest that there could be a short between the positive wire and the earth .
Easy to check with a multimeter.
Either that or the 12v is being taken from a low current source.

Is it blowing the fuse when you connect the earth? It should if the +ve is going straight to earth. If not, then you have a bad connection somwhere on the +ve wire between battery and light (via the fuse and switch). In other words, soon as you connect a load the volts drop. Hope this helps.

No its not blowing a fuse and the earth wire connects to the flange of the globe and holds it in place, I will trace the wiring and see if the power is earthing somewhere.

Okay, you most likely have a bad joint/ loose connection somewhere.

Thanks Fred & Footy you guys were spot on, was a crappy connection on the + wire.
I must say these Kaymar lights are not worth the money!! The wiring, switch and conections are really bodgy.

Thanks again
