For all you explorers venturing out along the Canning this year, here's another place for you to check out.

There is a rockhole, unnamed, but is close to Point Massie, and is less than 10 kilometres from the CSR. This is to the north, around the Well 46, Mount Ford area.

I went there 6 years ago, but failed to take a position fix. Looking on Google Earth it would be around 20 43 47.65 S and 126 28 59.56 E. It is at the head of a creek in the hills. I think there might be a track in to Point Massie these days anyway, but approach it from the north.

When you get in the vicinity just follow the animal tracks, they will guide you.

Carnegie was guided to this rockhole in 1896. Member sparra has been there too and has some pictures in his profile of it.

G'day Alan

We should be at Well 46 early in June and stopping for a few days so might take a drive to have a look.

Haven't quite found it on GE as the view isn't close enough. I see there is a seismic line heading SE north of BM 304(Raster 250K) but can't see it via GE.

There is also a Confluence 21°00'00"S and 126°00'00"E not far from Well 44 turn off, but it must have been reached by now

Hi Willem,

You will have no dramas getting there, especially with a bit a time up your sleeve.

That confluence has been visited , but there are plenty left in that area:

Yeah I think I found it on GE. Have put a waypoint there and will transfer that to my Raster maps.

Happy Easter to you too Phil,

I'm not going out this year - so will have to get my bush fix from trips reports from people such as yourself...

Regards
Alan

Hi Willem,
Let hope we find them. Have a great trip -` look forward to hearing how you get on.

Alan, no desert trip this year. How are you going to keep that desert invigorated blood of yours flowing in your veins `- your veins will probably seize up- lol. I'll let you know how I get on as well.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I went away over Easter.

cheers

Phil
