I had the Electric brake controller fitted at ARB last Tuesday and finished up with a problem with the
Hazard lights for the Tvan.
The Hazards work on the Xtrail as normal. When connected to the Tvan. They work when the ignition is on Run /Auxiliary but not in the off position. Problem is If I am stopped and have a dead engine, I have no hazards on the Tvan. Any Ideas. Steve.

I can not blame ARB for the problem. They pointed it out to me. The
hazard lights should not be wired through the ignition switch as I see it.
Hazard lights are on a separate circuit. they should run when you have a break down and you turn your engine off. Back to you Steve.

I know its not likely but is there an earthing issuse in that the
hazard lights only make a full circuit to ground with the ignition on? Or have polarities been reversed somewhere in the loom?

Sounds to me as if they have used relays which are only energised once the ignition is away from off.

Thanx Peter. That is logical. What I do not understand is, why
the hazards work Ok without the ignition on without the
tailor. when the trailer is connected the left and right indicators are Ok but
the hazards do not work unless the ignition is on aux/main. Steve...

Mate - did the trailer
hazard flashers work ok before you got ARB to fit the brake controller?
If yes, see ARB and ask them to find the wiring fault.
If no, see Nissan and ask them to find the wiring fault.

Thanx Max. As I said, I am taking the Xtrail back to Nissan on Wednesday. If it is ARB's fault, I'll be taking back to them. Regards Steve............
