Has anyone on here got a custom POI file with the UHF repeater locations for SA?
If I enter the location in as a favourite will it alert me while driving or will it just show the icon on the screen?
Thanks

Repeaters 'come and go' - most list providers remind users that such stations might, or might not be there when you actually want one. I use a UHF with a repeater scan function - my thinking was that wherever I am, if I need one, the radio can have a sniff and tell me if one is in range.

Darian, I know what you mean about might or might not be there. I worked for the SA Govt. years ago & we had a portable VHF repeater that we could put anywhere we needed.
Unfortunately my scan function is not working properly at the mo. It's a Motorola Syntrx and for some reason the little button switch in the back of the mic that's activated ny the hanger has decided to give up on me.
Might strip it down and
check it out again to see if I can sort it.
On a side note, for a while now I've been thinking "hmm, do I know this Darian fellow from somewhere?"
Cheers
Louie
