i have added a second stub axel onto my Kaymar rear bar and i'm making a swing away jerry can holder up to go onto it. i now need to get a latch and locking bracket that is preferably the same as the one i will picture below. before you say try Kaymar i will be doing that this week, but i have been told they don't sell parts unless it's to replace already damaged ones, and then proof needs to be shown of damaged parts (phone call this week will confirm this or not though). so does anyone know where i can purchase one of these latches from, obviously from a looks point of view i want it to be the same as or very similar to the one pictured below.
cheers for any help

Good afternoon rum pig.
Are these the ones you want.

These parts are of the spare tyre holder from an early Toyota, BJ40's, Hj47 1982/84, and you should be able to get them from a wrecker, near you.
Cheers for now...William H...Bunbury...WA.

thanks William
a mate did suggest to me yesterday that i look at some of the old Toyota type ones. i may have to revisit the local wreckers and see what i can find should Kaymar not want to sell me an original one, though some of the catches sold at the trailer shops seem to be similar aswell looking at the link posted up.
cheers

rumpig, I built a swing away jerry can holder for my Kaymar rear bar (on a 92 4Runner). After deliberating long and hard (with beer) over how and where to latch it I decided to do it the easy peasy way. See my pics below.

You just have to make sure the new arm lines up with the Kaymar one. This you would do anyway otherwise it would look odd me thinks. Then just weld a plate on top and behind. I used 75 x 50 x3 RHS and the plates are 50x8 flat bar. I welded a piece of 16mm round bar to the bottom of the arm of the jerry holder so it just pushes up against the rear bar when the whole shebang is closed. No rattles or anything, and strong as an ox. Only thing is I didn't put a stop on it as I was in a hurray to go away. A few days into the trip and I ended up with a ding in the right rear 1/4 panel from it swinging out to far. How'd you be!
Cheers
Louie

thanks for the pics and tip, i'm open to any suggestions at the moment, though i do want it to look as much as the original as possible. at the end of the day, if i can't get what i'm after, then i'll have to rethink how i build it.
cheers

thanks for the replies so far everbody, i have emailed Kaymar in the off chance that they will sell me the Latch and catch, but honestly i don't like my chances.
i never thought to ask at trailer shops and manufacturers, so thanks for that heads up and the link. i had tried a couple of the local wreckers, but no luck, rare as rocking horse poo was what one wreckers said to me in relation to getting a Kaymar product, but i will continue to look. would be nice to stumble across a damaged rear bar or wheel carrier that had what i wanted, but i don't like my chances, won't stop me from looking though.
thanks again
