I have a camp shower and the pilot light won't stay alight. The Primus rep tells me that I have to make an adjustment to the auto shutoff in the area of the pilot light.

any ideas?

May have to seek a repair man (in the ACT)

AGA regulatons stipulate that if you turn the shower rose OFF, pilot light will automatically go out. Is this what is happening?

No, in this instance the pilot light must stay alight to ignite the burners when you turn the knob to warm/hot. My advice as well is that the unit is so full of safety cutoff mechanisms that if the ba,ance is not correct the unit ceases to function.

Cheers

Hi Lizards,My advice would to get a qualified guy to look at it.We had a Coleman and it caught a light while I was having a shower.Melted the whole thing, very lucky that it never caused any injuries.
By the way Coleman replaced the unit free of charge.
Just be careful.

Mine does the same thing. I thought the pilot light jet may be blocked, but found it was OK. I did not look to see if there was an adjustment for it.

I need to look again to see if the pilot light actually ever comes on.

Assumed it was a fault in the unit. Expect it wold cost too much to get someone to look at it.

I will watch this thread with interest, hoping somebody may have some suggestions.

I have the old Primus Heater (Blue steel cover) and have found that the filter on the pump gets clogged fairly quickly, dropping the pressure at the shower head which in turn heats the water up quicker in that section of the line which sets off the hot temperature cut-out switch. I will change pumps over to a better one with better filter system when I find one. Good luck with it and let us know when you get it sorted.

Cheers Michael

I found this link
http://forum.australia4wd.com/index.php?showtopic=7733

It seem it may have this 'fault' from new.

I now just heat the water in a bucket using the primus then when the water is hot enough just turn of the gas and have a shower anyway.

It is a pain though when something does not work the way it should

That is what we do too. Can't adjust the temp correctly for the kids to use so we resorted to running it full blast into a bucket till that bucket heated up to a temp usable by the kids, then turn off the gas and use the bucket of warm water. No real dramas, you still get clean.
