Hi,
Am leaving on a 3 month trip to Qld next month & going via Bourke. 4WD towing a single axle pop top. We had planned on a couple of days at Mays Bend & today noticed tthat Camps 3 & 4 have deleted the Mays Bend campsite on the basis that the track in was not suitable.

Does anyone have any information as to whether you would get in with a van. I know that if it is wet it is a no no or if it looks like rain to get out. Any info would be appreciated. Someone may let me know if it has been included in Camps 5 book.
Thanks, Willy

Hi Willy
We were there a couple of years ago, in our camper trailer.
Track was a little rough, but there were a couple of caravans there. The track may have deteriorated since then, someone else may have a later report.
Cheers

Hi Willy I was up there this time last year and the access to the first part of the camp area was O.K. for a caravan but the area was covered in a 6ft high weed like thistle bush and we ended up back in town at the caravan park.
Hopefully the council have cleared the area again as it would have been a beautiful camp spot if not for the weeds.
Cheers

Gday Willy

You will have no probs getting in there but do agree with clint in regards to the thistles last winter they were thick and you could not camp near the water.

Cheers

We were there last June (18' 8" Jayco standard caravan)and the track in was fine and camped at the first section you come to on the river for three nights(North side of river).

Hi Willy.
I live in Bourke and the road to Mays bend will be fine for you to take your van in.
There in a few burrs about but you will find somewhere suitable to set up camp.

We went in there last week for a look, one washout gutter which could easily be crossed with caravan, seemed like a great spot right on the river.
