Hi There,

But I see all the roads are still closed. Do you have experience that the roads open on 12-05-09.

Welcome to Australia, and don't forget we drive on the Left hand side of the road!.............not like on Yank tourist I came across on a outback road, came straight towards me, I stopped and flagged him down, asked him what the F*********** he was up to, he said he forgot that he was supposed to be on the left hand side of the road.

It can happen to anyone.

Coming out of a minor road on to a major road in California I turned left on to the wrong side of the road and nearly got cleaned up by an very large Oldsmobile with smoking tyres. The driver, like you, did not have kind words for me. I avoided the 'accident' by going bush!....lol. On my 4th visit to the USA I started to get the hang of driving on the 'wrong' side of the road.

I love seeing our country but I know that there is a big, wide world out there and I love to see it too. Like Willem I have been guilty of (briefly) driving on the wrong side of the road in Europe and US. It's frightening when you realise what you've done and it's frightening for the oncoming driver, and the vehicle should definitely be flagged down and given a firm but friendly, sympathetic reminder to concentrate. We've all been guilty of a drop in concentration on the road.

Perhaps we can all play a part in helping fellow travellers from OS by finishing our conversations with them in camps and along the road with a light-hearted "and don't forget to stay on the correct side of the road!"

In Alaska there's a tourist bus driver who had a very shocked look on his face when I came at him on the wrong side of the road after doing a U turn. Easy done when there is no traffic around.

Hi pim, i am an old mokkummer aswell, welcome to Oz

Driving on the other side of the road is one you have to get used to, crossing the road and looking the wrong way first is an other one.

Hope you have a great time.
