Hi everyone!
very new to this site!and would love to get some help with regards to a good diesel mechanic where to take our4x4.
it is a holden jackaroo 1999 diesel 3.0
this car belongs to a nephew and we are interested in buying it but it has a few problems that were left by a certain mechanic who did a seriously large overhaul.the car leaks oil,and diesel, and it starts whenever it pleases!!mostly not in the mornings!
We need to have it checked by someone who knows this vehicles back to front so we can get a good idea of the actual condition of the car before commiting ourselves to buy it.
we love the car drives beautiful when it starts!
help us please!!!!!

Hi Caramelos
I wouldn't take my 4x4 (Nissan Patrol) anywhere else but Perth 4WD. Matthew O'Brien runs it, I think in Maddington.
Sorry, don't have his number at hand, but he's in the Yellow Pages.
Regards

Hi Caramelos, I have the same model Jackaroo, and through this site learned that the 3.0 turbo in this year model has serious diesel injector problems. Where you said that the motor goes when it pleases... this is one of the signs of the injector troubles, the sump gradually fills with fuel, then takes off on its own. There were 2 recalls for safety because of this, initially for injector seals, then later, the injectors were replaced. I have only had mine for 2 months, and yes, had to have an injector replaced. (the recalls had been done). Cost was just short of $1000 for 1 injector plus labour. I love the Jackaroo, and hope it costs me no more than the average vehicle from here on in, but I would have to refrain from recommending this year model turbo diesel to anyone to buy. Hope I havent put a damper on your day, Dave

Thank you !!Bushwhacker:
we will have to make a serious decision after finding out the amount that would cost a full review of the engine and injectors etc.
thanks for your candid reply. We appreciate the fact that you advise us to stay clear of this particular model. Our nephew has had a few problems over the year and a half he owned it.

Fremantle Fuel Injection.

When the others cant work out problems these guys do.

Toyota and Nissan send their diesels there, and its a favourite shop for repairs to Brunswick Diesels.

They really know their diesels.

Brett...
