A few years ago I owned a NA Fairlaine. I had nothing but trouble with it.
1. Auto gear box lost reverse gear.
2. Cylinder head rotted out although the recommended coolant was used.
3. Ignition died in the middle of no where.
4. Both front windows dropped down.
5. Climate control would not heat the car
6. Oil pressure light would illuminate in wet weather.

Apart fro these faults is was a nice car to drive (when it went)

I would like to know if the NB (I believe that there was a NB) and the NC Fairlaine were any better or did I just have a "Fridays" car

The NA was the equivalent of the EA Falcon - first in a brand new series and as usual with a major revision not without it's problems. The EL falcon (I think the Fairlane is an NL) had it well and truly sorted and were actually a fairly good car. You should be able to pick an NL Fairlane up for bugger all.
