Our T.OM TO.M 7.2,0 sits on the dash of our cruiser and is hard to read during daylight hours.
I know I can make a sun shade out of black cardboard or an ice cream bucket but is there a ready made version available.
Comments appreciated
Peter
Apologise for the spelling above, but I do not like my comments about a particular product being picked up by search engines to be made available to anyone on the Web who does a search of the product.

Hi All
Not running a TOM but a MIO. I found that the dash temps were a little worrying when using the unit (remember I am in FNQ) so I elected to buy an external antenna and mount the MIO out of the sun and heat. After all, you don't really need to see it all the time,
mine yaps away from the centre console quite happily
Grab a thermometer sometime and leave it next to your GPS and you will be surprised. I was. I was also surprised that the plastic didn't melt on the unit.
Maybe a cover that shielded the whole unit might be the go?

Mate in
leongatha, Vic. has screwed down a thick black plastic can on top of his dash, just above the centre air vents, on his Patrol. From there he has run some silicone around the edges, to tidy it up.
His Older Garmin sits inside the plastic can, and back in about 1"..
As he dosent really care about the asthetics of his vehicle, just something that really works, and the direct sunlight has never touched the unit.
Old Bill dosent care much for the pretty things in life, as long as they work, and works
well. (there is a
pic of him with me, on my profile)
As he said, the vehicle will probably outlast him.
Cheers
Bucky
