Hi all,
A question for the owners of aftermarket turbo'ed 100 1HZ, 100 series.
What boost do you run?
Thanks

Just in the process of putting a turbo on a 1HZ. The turbo supplier (Turbotech in
Perth) said stay below 8psi and you should get about 25-30% increase in power without damaging anything.

Turbo'ed
mine about 6 months ago.I set it up for 11psi max boost.
Id be more worried about your EGT's than boost as EGT's will climb as boost increases anyway. You dont want your EGT's to climb above 550deg C post turbo.
Driving ours at 95kph we get around 300 deg C EGT's and boost about 8psi.

Gezza
I only fitted a Denco kit to my 1hz a couple of months ago and the boost was factory set to 8psi, but after fitting an egt gauge I found that the egt did not get much about 400degC post turbo and did not have the power increase I was expecting.
Because of this a dyno was done last week, the tuner increased boost to 9psi and increased the fuel as it was running way to lean. These adjustments increased allowed the egt to peak just over 500degC post turbo and the power increase was more what I was expecting from adding the turbo. The dyno graph showed 97hp before the dyno which is about standard and increase to 120hp after.

Had an denco on my 1HZ 80 series with 2 1/2 inch exhaust, running 7 psi and it was marginally better than unturboed. Never had any issues either.
Now have a denco on my HZJ 105 with 1 HZ and 3 inch exhaust, set at 10 psi but it maxed at 12 psi on the dyno. It has a heap more power and using a bit more fuel but
well worth it.
