Just having a look around the Eildon area... what's the Eildon-Jamieson track like? Google Maps shows it as being 60km but doesn't have any decent satellite photos to judge the road by - is it a 2WD road or 4WD track? Heading up that way soon and will have a baby in the back
seat - so I'm hoping for a straightforward way of getting to Jamieson from Eildon that doesn't involve a 130km loop via
Mansfield!

2wd road, Last time I came through there we passed more 2wd's than 4wd's. Could drag a trailer/van through easily.

GoldPelican,
From Eildon to Big river it's a sealed road. After that it's a dirt track, any car can do it 60kms all up. I was trailbike riding up that way a couple of weeks ago. and it's pretty much burnt out from about 5km in from Eildon all the way to Big River, after that it's fine.
Worth a look as everything is black and copper in colour.
We do the same trip frequently with 2
young kids and if by the time we get to jamieson they are getting niggly we end up coming
home via
Mansfield, which even though longer in distance is quicker being sealed highway all the way.
Rob

Ditto to all the above 2wd. i was up there last weekend as the oldies live up there. If your hungry and want a great meal for a great price , stop in at the Kevington, its just 15 minutes short of Jamieson.
cheers,
Lance

It's a winding dirt road in the middle section from Big River to the Mt Terrible turn off, often corrugated & dusty at times or slippery when wet. Not what I'd call suitable for large road going vans but definately a 2wd road that will save quite a bit of time than going right around via
Mansfield.
Cheers Craig...............
