They go into any Garmin GPSr that takes maps, I had them working on my 760 but the real 3D display is on the Colorado or Oregon handhelds

Picked up my new Nuvi 760 today from Dick Smiths, terrific price.
Been playing with it all afternoon and so far am supa happy with the choice, thanks to the excellent information available from the users of this forum.
I'm now about to download the Garmin training centre software and Mapsource software ( as per the instructions on here http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/map_authors/message/7832 )so I can view the Shonky maps and upload them into my GPS until I buy either Oztopo or Garmin Aust Topo. Is this the way to go, or should I just buy the Mapsource software from somewhere like GPSOz ?

After a few more searches I think I've found the info I need. I'll try it out and see how I go, just a bit nervous as it's a brand new GPS !!! :-/
Thanks for all the help,
Russ

Then I suggest you copy everything on the Garmin drive and burn it onto a CD that way if you accidentally delete anything you have a backup.

GPS Australia
Is a good site if you need some good advice

Thanks Skippy, I have backed up the files as you suggested, good idea.
I've tried uploading POI's into my 760 with no luck. I followed the instructions as it says to click save in the download box, then select 'Garmin' in My Computer, then select the 'POI file'. Sounds simple but problem is that I don't have a POI file in the Garmin folder ???
Second question is can you load up POI's, new vehicles etc... onto an SD card or does it have to go into the GPS' memory ?

Sorry for all these questions, you guys must pull your hair out everytime one of us first time GPS users buys a new GPS !!!
