Hi All, Heading north in a few weeks and leaving from Newcastle NSW. We intend to do a lap of OZ and will be following the coast line mainly in a anti-clockwise direction. Just wondering what your suggestions are for accessing weather conditions etc for places we will be approaching or travelling to??? As we will have a laptop with us I am thinking this will be the easiest method of obtaining weather reports etc etc...

I use both Weather zone and bom.gov then I stick my head out the window.
And then have a guess. ;)
Both are good sites.

This one's good too, probably gets it's data from BOM, but presents it as a 7 day forecast and other stuff You just have to enter A postcode or town name to get the local forecast

You could try Accuweather.com as well. It gives 1-5, 6-10 days forecasts.

Actually does 15 days and it's not too bad.

I've been using it for years.

I just have this in my favourites, so it's a bit tricky to start from scratch.

Try

http://www.accuweather.com/world-city-list.asp?loccode=brisbane+queensland&Submit1=GO%21

This will take you to an international city search page and you can go from there

(From memory I couldn't get through either initially, but once I got to this page I could then search anywhere I wanted. I'm sure there is a way to get there more directly but I'm just so sure and not completely savvy about these things either. Someone else on line might be able to help. I'll keep trying and if I find out how I'll post again.

I assume you already tried the weather system here on this site - ie. ExplorOz? This is BOM data customised to suit our site Weather on ExplorOz

I use this: Weather & Temperature forecast
Is mainly the relevant daily temperature numbers, not a large picture site which will slow down loading and uses up your GB allowance when travelling.

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies - all been most helpful...
Good point that was made about the download capacity of some websites as we are currently on a 1GB per month plan so we have to watch that we dont go overboard but at the same time we do want to make sure we are aware of any potentially bad weather issues that we may be able to avoid if we need too....

Thanks again
