Hi all I have an Engle remote digital gauge which I want to mount with velcro and when I bought an outback roof consol I recieved a strip of velcro that was like a hard platic rather than soft material to mount my UHF I need to buy more for this and other jobs ,so can anyone tell me where to buy this from and on another matter I want to store 4 brand new leather wide brim hats we just bought from the show in the 4b for our big trip and I have seen a bloke use 2 ocky straps on the ceiling of his 4b you just pull aside one and slip it in, so has anyone got any better ideas?

Regards John.

The fastener you are looking for is 3M Dual-Lock. If you search for it you will find retailers. One is BlueRim Motorcycle Accessories (www.bluerim.com.au), who sell 3x300mm lengths of 25mm wide for $12.

Bunnings sell this product. It's great for securing things, but it isn't cheap. I use a cheaper type of velcro to secure my remote fridge thermometer, and have had no problems with it.

Thanks for that info.
I believe that the 3M stuff will be much better than the cheap stuff for holding the perspex on my back window, as the cheap stuff's glue slips down the screen when hot.
I have ordered some from the source.

The correct stuff is the 3M twin lock or Duo lock
Its not actally velcro. Both pieces are the same and they have little stalks with a lump on the end which locks them together.
You can also lock them at a 90deg as in putting on piece sideways across each other.

I couldnt find it anywhere and got mine from the 3M warehouse in Brisbane.
It was also heat resistant to 135deg F so is ideal for stuff mounted in hot areas.
I had a 3 1/2 in folding screen mounted on the front of the roof console in my Croozer and it never fell off and sat in the sun all day every day.
Just get it right the first time cos it wont stick the same again.
I know I tried it and the stuff fell off.
If you cant buy the good stuff like that ring 3M It was $20 a metre. Single piece.

Great stuff Graham, like lots of tiny mushrooms that push between one another. I have to use a screw driver between the strips to get them apart.

Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback I will try Bunnings and if not there contact 3M as I also would like to use it on the DVD player and even the PS2 for the kids so when travelling I don't have to store it then reconnect it all .

I got mine from an upholsterer, is about 2 inch wide, use it to hold the 4 x plug adapter onto the Inverter.

Good luck with the Engel remote thermometer, as a thermometer mine is a damn good clock!
It spent most of its time on our recent trip showing '- -' in the fridge temp display.

I am taking it back for a refund.
