Done another 'there and back' to the Gold Coast. 2 days there, two days business, 2.5 days back. 4070km. I really wouldn't like to be a truckie driving endless kilometres on a daily basis. Really getting past my prime for these 1000km days

Close call 1:

Driving the twisty road over the range between Woodenbong(NSW) and Beaudesert(Qld). Doing about 30kmh, it's overcast and the sun is just about down. Come around the corner on the right side of the road and just see the grille of a Kenworth looming at me. Can still see the guard brushes sweeping past my window!. The drivier had cut the previous corner and was on his way back to the other side of the road. We missed each other by what seemed like millimetres and that was the important part...lol

Close call 2:
Had changed the oil on the XTrail at home before the trip and as the old brass sump seal had been letting drip some oil out I decided to use one of me mate Muzbry's, U-beaut fabric washers. Threw the old one in the glovebox and away we went. Done a tad over 2000 km and saw the drip appear again. Kept an eye on it though. Pulled up back at the motel after buzzing down the Freeway and saw the oil pizzing out of the sump. The drain plug was on its last thread and ready to fall out. A quick swap over using the old seal again and lots of oil mess on the motel driveway (luckily it is bitumen) and I saved the day...Whew!!! that was close. What if??? Yes...well.......Maybe I am just lucky!!!

Cheers

We have plenty of quality up here, but it's extra special when Royalty graces the region, I expect we would do the same in SA lol lol.

Wonder how the XTrail would look with a "KW" badge embedded into the grille, mate that was way too close for comfort.
Any grey hairs left?

Don't worry about all the oil you dropped on the highway :-)

Maybe that is why the Kenworth was on the wrong side of the road ?

Maybe the Kenworth was hoping it was you comming the other way.

I take it you have never had a mechanical breakdown whilst on the road??

I hope you meant to say "correct side" because if you were on the right side of the road then you were on the wrong side because you should have been on the left side :-) Gee I amuse myself sometimes!

I do hope that Mr Michael prevailed the courtesies of small town hospitality upon you. He is very good at that!

Now doubt Mr Michael regaled you on his efforts of making a sows ear into a silk purse(Truupy)....hahahahahaha

You can make a silk purse even better Willem, especially if it is more than likely to be used to rescue " others" over the coming months !!! LOL

Would hardly call bread baking on the run a 4 wd accessory Micheal, BUT then is it ?
Will have to have a Sunday drive before you take the silk purse scrub and view all the new fruit !

Cheers Pesty

"Close call 1: ....
Come around the corner on the right side of the road... "

Interesting - think I've spotted the problem - what side of the road do you guys in the east normally drive on?

Cheers
Greg :)

I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

The trouble is, Greg, that those living in the west have by nature a poor concept or undersdtanding of Australian English (no wonder they have thought to secede from the Commonwealth at times), hence the misreading of various posts in forums.

Here is a Copy and Paste from this thread for your enlightenment.
