There have been a number of threads relating to log in problems etc over the past months.
I recall that one of the issues identified related to the interface between CA Internet Security and the EO.
I have just changed from CA to Trend and I am now able to log in from the
home page and it is remembering my password etc when I leave and come back.
So it seems CA was part of the problem that I was experiencing
