Forumites,
Just a quick question, I had a LR Disco with slightly bigger than normal tyres on standard rims, I'm buggered if I can remember what size these tyres were. They did contact the rear arch ever so slightly on full articulation yes I'm aware of this I'm going to get the rear arches trimmed to suit I just need to know the size.

Yeap I've got another Disco now with standard tyres I just want to go a little bit bigger with out doing major mods.

Thanks in anticipation.

Gerday Martyn,

I've had both a Disco 1 & a Disco 2, the first one came with 31/10.5/15s (2nd hand) fitted & touched the guards slightly, I fitted 33/12.5/15s & had to trim the rear of both front & back guards to stop them from touching, I also gave it a 4" suspension lift as well.

The Disco 2 came new with 235/70/16s & I fitted it with 245/75/16 MTRs, as well as OME touring suspension, approx' 40mm lift & had no problems with the tyres touching at all.

Hope this helps.

Martin,
I note from your profile that your Disco is a D3 TDV6 S.

The standard tyre is 235/70R17.

A 245/70R17 will fit without any rubbing. A 265/?R17 will rub on some model years, due to some differences in chassis rails - not sure of details.

I have 245/70R17 Cooper STTs on aftermarket wheels for trips/offroad use.

Hi Ian,
Very true, I do have an 05 Disco 3 but I also have a project 97 LR Disco 2.5 TD which I play with in my spare time which isn't a great deal right now. Impressive observation......... The size I was after was in the first response, thanks very much anyway.
