Hey there. having looked through the older threads, we are still undecided whether if it's worth the trip early June that way as we are abit worried about the road conditions after the recent floods. Hoping one or some of you have recently been that way as we'd like to hear from you with your thoughts if its worthwhile extra k's. RACQ and other sites does not seem to have any updates for that road. Can we still get permits as we arrive there?

Thanks for your help in advance.

They had a lot of rain over there this year. Dunbar to Kowanyama is still closed and so is Dundar back towards Chillago. I was heading that way myself but still can not. It may pay you to ring the Carpentaria Shire Council as they will be doing the required work on the Kowanyama Rd and will know when it will most likely open. It was under water for a long time out there this year, Cheers Tony

As you can see - it is now open to Kowanyama. Cheers
