I have played around with a few online maps and cannot get them to work for me (probably not paying them enough).

Anyway its back to paper maps. Where can I look at them and purchase them online, any help would be appreciated.

Have you had a look at the ExplorOz shop on this site
they might have what you want, Look under digital mapping.
or try gpsoz.http://www.gpsoz.com.au/
I only ever made one mistake
and that's when I thought I was wrong!

Hi Boo Boo,
what online maps are you talking about, and what are you trying to run them on?

G'day Fred

I'm trying to get topographic maps of gold detecting areas.

I'm more than happy to use paper maps as I have played with some online sites and I'm not sure what would go on the Garmin anyway.

Unless of course someone can say that maps can be installed on my garmin 760 and easy to use. LOL

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards BooBoo

I'm in Mt Isa at the moment, and I would like to see a demo of some sort.

After reading the info here in exploroz I'm going into the 'eyes glaze over mode'.

I am going to Surfers paradise next week for a few days so I will try and have a look at some of the programs face to face.

Failing that I might get more son to turn the info into english for me.LOL

At least I am now pointed in the right direction,I think.
Thanks fellas,

Check out the forum at gpsaustralia.net

Somewhere there are comparo pics of screens from T4A, Shonky and Garmin.

Good source of paper maps is HEMA; they have a website.

I can pull maps off Google Earth and Google Maps, calibrated for Ozi Explorer if you give me the top left Lat/lon of the area you are interested in.
Maps can only cover about 1degree Lat Lon, but that is a fairly large area.
Files are about 10MB or so.
email me at drleesatgmaildotcom if interested.
cheers

Thanks austastar, but at the moment even if I found the lat/lon I would probably have trouble with whatever you send me.

At the moment I will get a paper version and when I get back to a big smoke I will look at computer versions etc.
Thanks anyway.

If you want to buy paper topographic maps online, try: www.mymapshop.com.au or www.cartodraft.com.au

To search for which maps you need to order, you might find it useful to visit www.abcmaps.com.au but they won't sell the maps to you.
