G,Day,
I,ve just had my 4.5ltr GU Patrol converted to LPG with a 110ltr / 90ltr useable tank.I,m wondering if anyone else has the same or similar vehicle with LPG and what per ltr or km per tank range you are getting?.

I haven't owned a patrol but one of our good friends own a 98 4.5 patrol on LPG. Not sure how many klms they get as I dont know the tank size (I think 90L usable but thats a guess) but I know she drove (starting with full gas tank) from Nelsons Bay NSW to our place here in Penrith and I took it over to the servo the following morning to refill for her and it worked out at 23L per 100k. I thought this was pretty heavy considering it was freeway driving ?? but then they are a big vehicle. She has A/T tyres and does have a full length steel rack on the roof......WHG

P,
Is it the old style (and much cheaper) mixer system or direct injection LPG?
If it's mixer, expect about 25% less than on petrol, if direct injection about 10 % less.
Work back from your petrol figures to get an estimate.
Cheers,
Jim.

Jim,That sounds close. My conversion is a mixer system and I ran out my 1st tank of gas and achieved just under 300km running around town.On petrol I was achieving around 400km per 80 odd ltrs. Are these achieved km,s per tank the average for a 4.5ltr 4x4 running 31" M/T tyres?.
Cheers, P

P,
Can't comment specifically on the 4.5, but the old man had a 4.8 and was getting similar figures to your's with the mixer sysytem.

My old auto 4.5 averaged 26L/100km, 33" tyres, 3" lift, auto. Used to get 300km from 85L lpg. Best was 21.5L/100km.
My "new" 4.5 averages 23L/100km, 33" tyres, 2" lift, steel roof rack, manual. Getting about 360km from 85L lpg. Best so far is 21L/100km.
Mainly suburban driving and I don't drive for economy. The above figures are using a GPS.
Are you using the cars odometer or GPS? Autos use noticeably more than the manuals as a rule of thumb.

Not that it's a Patrol, but my dual fuel 2.7L 2000 Hilux uses 50% more LPG than petrol.... In other words, if gas is 60c/L it's like paying 90c/L for petrol.

I'd get it retuned that's too much.
I've had 1x 60 series 3F
1 x 60 series 350 chev
1 x dual cab 80 series 1FZ-FE
1 x 105 series 1FZ-FE
and none of them used more than 20% more on gas and the 105 only gained 2 lt per hundred ie from 16 lph on ulp to 18 on gas. All running either 33's or 285 muddies.
Generally they all used between 18 - 20 lph on gas and I don't drive for economy.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Pinhead, I have a 98 model 4.5 patrol, that was converted to gas several years ago with a mixer type system. We get on average about 420k's for 85L's of gas.
