Electric blanket

l was wondering how powerful an inverter would you need to use your electic blanket from a 12 volt power source are there 12 volt electric blankets you can buy? do they use up alot of electicity , could you have one on all night connected to your car without draining your car battery?

The smallest inverter - those can sized ones will work as blanket is around 50watt only.

Have seen 12v ones for cars.

They use about 4 amps , better to use a hot water bottle.

Forgot to add - they would flatten a normal car battery overnight

Was looking at one earlier on 4X4 site - 12 v - 2 heat stage runs at 45 W then drops to 20W ..

Would still drain your car battery !! Might be OK on a 100 ah or better - HWB is the go ! and a good furry blanket !

You could use a couple of hot water bottles.

Then again maybe a Dog or two could keep you warm and have no battery problems in the morning.

Think the hot water bottle would be a better option though.

We use a normal 240V double electric blanket via an inverter.
It uses 60W (5A @ 12V) per side when flat out, and lower power consumption on LOW settings.
30 Minutes (5Ahr) is enough to get it warm before going to bed, and another hour or so in the wee hours on low (anothr 5Ahrs) if it is very cold.
