While the subject of
camp ovens is so flavoursome (hee, hee) can anyone assist me on a matter that frightens me every time I go camping.
What do y'all do with the lids when you take them off the oven and begin to serve dinner etc. ???
I don't have any chillun of my own but they're always about and I get so scared of someone burning themselves. I always use due diligence but if someone's got a tip that I hadn't thought of then this could be a worthwhile question.
Many thanks

We have a piece of plywood that sits alongside the fireplace and the lid always goes on that with the long handled hooks used for lifting it.(Keeps it out of the dirt also)

I usually prop it up against a tree or hide it under the car but I still have a fear of some kid stepping on it or trying to pick it up

Allyn,
Carry an old towel with you and wrap the lid in that and then you can hide it anywhere.

If its cold I place it under my table with a towel over it , I than take me boots off and warm my feet while having my dinner , also makes a great bed warmer on those cold nights , heat ,rap in a towel and place at end of sleeping bag Born to drive a 4x4 , not a keyboard
