I suppose it's O/T but can also refer to vehicle air con, so I don't feel too bad about asking for help from our vastly experienced group.
We are having a bit of office renovation at work, and a three year old air conditioner had to be removed.
The apprentice used sidecutters to release the gas, which we then explained that turtles will die because of this, (and maybe vast herds of budgies) and he is repentant, very, very repentant.
Now he is scared because some sticky/slimy white goo that came out of the severed pipe got on his hands which he wiped off on his King Gees.
Does anyone know if this white goo is carcinogenic, and should he/we be worried?
I suppose worst case scenario is a day off for his funeral, but we would like to plan for it if necessary.
Cheers
Ian

Tell him it'll make his pecker drop off.

After he's suitably scared inform him it is really just compressor oil and is supposedly harmelss unless injected or swallowed, then it makes your pecker drop off.

Sound like a nasty thing to tell him, but we did anyway.
Poor bustard was broken hearted, with no pecker, he'd have to become a politician instead of making the big money in carpentry.
Thanks for the info.

Ian,
You and I were both apprentices once, all part of the learning process.

So long as the young fellow learnt something the world is a great place.

While the white goo is quite harmless, you could tell him that it is actually illegal to willingly cause the gas to escape to atmosphere and that the Global Warming and Ozone Police will be after him for their $10,000 fine.

Cheers

Thanks for the info.
He is really quite upset with the results because he is a greeny at heart. Lesson learnt looks like.
Thanks

not sure if domestic a/c oil is like some of the automotive stuff but PAG oil used in some a/c systems is highly carcenogenic , it will turn your pecker black , should see the MSDS on it
